When you're not good at Substacking but are good at Podcasting
ICYMI ... and you probably did!
So it turns out a lot has been going on, and balls were in the air, and Substack was the ball I dropped. Every week when I release a podcast episode I shout about it on Insta, LinkedIn and HERE… That requires assets for every platform - and for Insta multiple assets - so shouting about it on all these platforms is the idea in theory. The practise lately has looked like this:
Mention it on Insta
Ignore LinkedIn
Ignore Substack
Have a meltdown and skip a week of the podcast altogether
Now we’re at the point where I have released the final episode before the summer break, so I NEEEED to shout about it again, plus you have six weeks ahead before the next episode to catch up on what you’ve missed. Phew. Almost like I planned it. Which I definitely didn’t.
So this is me here to give you a headline on the FIVE (eek!) great episodes you’ve missed….
Episode 40 - Carla Saull is the founder of jersey t-shirt hair towel brand Good Wash Day. She has lessons on starting again in mid-life, and finding the person who believes in you before you believe in yourself, and she’s so so passionate about her biz. It’s infectious.
Episode 41 - Megan Rossiter tackled her issues with the UK’s maternity system by creating her own birth education method, to empower parents-to-be. We go deep on maternity care, how to start a biz when you don’t know what you’re doing, and the unsung power of kindness in business.
Episode 42 - Alice Loveday is a stop motion animator who helps small brands bring their businesses to life - literally. She tells me about her journey from working with Martin Scorcese to homing in on her passion for supporting small businesses, and what growth looked like for her. Lessons aplenty.
Episode 43 - Hannah Isted capitalised on her flair for marketing to change her work-life, and also managed to find a way to accommodate her chronic illness in the mix. With a refreshing under-thinking approach to business, Hannah acts quickly with great results, and brings her thoughts on that, as well as her ten minute marketing wins to this episode.
Episode 44 - Michele Ferron is the founder of stationery brand Once Upon a Tuesday, and here she takes me on her journey from growing up in the family business, to accidentally starting her brand, which she then scaled with full intention and a laser focus on telling the story of her brand. More lessons here on growth, and why being a force for good as a business is possible.
Episode 45 - Kira Matthews calls herself Kira The Bold on Instagram, and that’s exactly what she is. Harnessing her Gen Z energy, I took the opportunity to ask Kira about what manifesting means to her, and how we can all bring some of that into our businesses. We discuss simply asking for what you want, no matter the size of your audience, and making friends with discomfort.
I hope there’s something in there that speaks to you. I know there are gems in each episode because I wouldn’t release them if I didn’t think there was tonnes of value!
Feel free to comment and let me know what you think, and eyes peeled for the podcast’s return in September where I have some AMAZING guests lined up. So excited to share more, and hopefully tell you about those episodes more regularly. Whoops.
Have an amazing summer ahead
